1st March 2015- We had a great trip out to St Croix this morning as we had a friendly encounter with two playful Cape fur seals not long after leaving the harbour. They were both preening and scratching themselves as if they had just woken up from a long snooze! The whole bay seemed to be filled with wildlife today as gannets, cormorants, terns, gulls and penguins filled the air and ocean as we headed on to the island. And then we were in for a real treat as we got to the island to find a pod of bottlenose dolphins. They seemed very confident today as they approached us so closely they were swimming right around and underneath the boat, which with the great visibility we had was an incredible sight! We did see one dolphin, however, which had a nasty wound, probably from a shark attack, but the rest of his pod seemed to be keeping him safe and happy so we hope he recovers well!
